August 2002The New Zealand dollar rate continues to attract overseas visitors however the catastrophic event of September 11 continues to impact on international travel. American visitor numbers especially have reduced and this trend continues today although to a lesser degree. No one could ever have predicted such a catastrophic event. There are very few people who were not directly or indirectly affected by that tragically historic day. Our drivers experienced the fear felt by stranded tourists, many of them Americans desperate to get home safely and be secure with their families. For the tour coach industry the ripple down effect was impossible to predict, the effects took some months to impact on the tour coach industry, indeed some operators are still affected by the events of that day. As a result there is some degree of industry uncertainty at the onset of the 2002 - 2003 tour season. Risk Management is the 'in' term for business management, but as September 11 has graphically illustrated risk is difficult to predetermine. Reesby's actively ensures that at all times travel is safe, luxurious and worry free.
To reflect the market demand for smaller coaches we have contracted with Allan Denning of Brisbane to build two 39 seaters, the specs for these coaches can be viewed on the fleet description page. These will be completed by September 2002.
